On May 8th took place the tenth International Congress organized by the Wessex Institute of the United Kingdom and the University of Alicante. The conference was celebrated in Alicante and counted with the participation of the LIFE EMPORE Project.
The researcher of the University Institute of Water and Environmental Sciences of the University of Alicante, María de los Ángeles Bernal Romero del Hombre Bueno, member of LIFE EMPORE, presented to the assistants the most relevant results of the evaluation of the water experts social perception in the presentation: “Assesing social perception of emerging pollutants in the south-east of Spain”. The evaluated information was extracted from surveys held on during ESAMUR conferences in Lorca, Murcia, on November.
The presentation showed the experts’ concern regarding the impact of future regulations on specific regulation of wastewater ECs, since they consider that the current EDARs aren’t prepared for the elimination of these compounds. In conclusion, the need was expressed to apply combined treatments that include current technologies (membranes, advanced oxidation, adsorption, etc.) to obtain a higher quality water free of ECs, focusing on price, one of the most worrying factors.
