Life Empore

Expected results

1. To design a technology able to reduce the preselected concentration of emerging pollutants as follows:

Prioritary emerging pollutants

Clorpirifos
Trifluralin
4-t-OctylPhenol
DEHP

Objetive

Below the limits established by the Directive 2013/39/UE.

Emerging pollutants listed in the “watch list” of the DIRECTIVE 2013/39/UE

Diclofenac
17-alfa-Estradiol
17-Beta-Estradiol

Objetive

To reduce its concentration in a 95% of their original concentration.

Pharmaceutical emerging pollutants

Chloramphenicol
Carbamazepina
2-(p -isobutilfenil) propionic acid
Fluoxetin hidrocloruro
Estrona

Objetive

To reduce its concentration in a 95% of their original concentration.

2. To evaluate the occurrence of emerging contaminants in Europe.

3. To characterize the emerging pollutants and their yearly variability for the WWTP of Benidorm.

4. To analyze the feasibility of the technologies for the emerging pollutants removal.

5. To assess the initial and final environmental state before and after treatment in Benidorm according to different organoleptic, physical and chemical parameters.

6. To assess the socio-economic impact of the implementation of the demo plant for emerging pollutants removal in the local economy and also in regions with a similar problem in Europe.

7. To transfer the project results to other identified Europe places with a similar situation regarding emerging pollutants.

8. To disseminate between stakeholders the benefits of using EMPORE technologies for the reduction of emerging pollutants presence in European WWTPs.
